THE END OF THE DEW LINE
There are a million ways to die in the Arctic. Declan McAlistair, Mac, would take that risk to ensure his family’s safety. Once the upgrades to the Distant Early Warning system, the DEW Line, are complete, he’d like nothing more than to put the Arctic, and his past, behind him. One last mission stands between him and returning home to his family: upgrades to the top-secret branch line and transporting an old radio beacon from an abandoned construction hut.
The construction hut, however, houses more than just a radio beacon. A suspicious accident costs him his friend and sets him on a collision course with the forces that upended his childhood.
Finding an unlikely ally in Tom Cat, a cagey radio operator whose mantra is “trust no one”, the pair uncover layers of cold war deception and learn of an imminent test of the DEW line. Mac must use his engineering know-how and ingenuity to keep his past in the past and to escape the game of cat and mouse in the Arctic.
This spy-fi story has elements reminiscent of 1980’s MacGyver, though fans of Chris Hadfield’s Apollo Murders will appreciate the technothriller aspect of this novel. The narrative style will also appeal to those who enjoy Robert Ludlum’s Bourne series.
